Welcome to Cynergin
Cynergin Consultants engaged by National Museums Liverpool

Cynergin is pleased to announce that it has been engaged by the National Museums Liverpool to evaluate the potential for an energy services contract.

This assignment comes hard on the heels of our work for the Natural History and Victoria & Albert Museums in London where we successfully managed the procurement of an energy services contract under the PFI which closed in July 2006 and achieved practical completion in December 2006.

World Museum Liverpool
Cynergin has a dedicated team working with the Museums and Galleries sector. The team has also written the business case for the Carbon Masterplan for the South Kensington Cultural & Academic Estate (SKCAE). SKCAE comprises the Natural History Museum, the V & A, the Science Museum, the Royal Albert Hall & Imperial College. The business case was awarded £2.9m of grant support funding by HM Treasury and is being implemented throughout 2007/08. We are now responsible for the commercial administration of the project.

Cynergin are specialists in energy and carbon management and have recently received company-wide accreditation by the Carbon Trust under the Carbon Management Energy Efficiency Category (CMee). National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside was established as a national museum in 1986 because of the outstanding quality of its collections. In 2003 we changed our name to National Museums Liverpool. Our origins go back to 1851 and the founding of Liverpool Museum.

Today there are seven National Museums Liverpool venues, together attracting over 1.6 million visitors annually:

- World Museum Liverpool (founded 1851, opened 1860/1, known as Liverpool Museum until 2005)
- Walker Art Gallery (opened 1877)
- Lady Lever Art Gallery (opened 1922)
- Sudley House (built early 19th century)
- Merseyside Maritime Museum (opened 1980)
- HM Customs & Excise National Museum (opened 1994)
- National Conservation Centre (opened 1996)

The Museum of Liverpool Life, which opened 1993, closed in 2006 to allow building work to start on a new Museum of Liverpool, expected to open in 2010. They are currently also working on the International Slavery Museum which will open on 23 August this year.

Walker Art Gallery
National Museums Liverpool's mission is to promote the public enjoyment and understanding of art, history and science. This is achieved through exhibitions, education, consultancy, archaeological excavation and fieldwork, scientific and historical research and building and collection care.

In the past 10 years, National Museums Liverpool has won 18 national and international awards for education, tourism, architecture and scholarship.

The new national museum will be an exceptional learning and community resource as well as a high quality contemporary public building giving unprecedented access to over 10,000 objects from National Museums Liverpool's collections. The family visitor attraction will provide 8,000 square metres of public space and will attract 750,000 visits a year.

The £65m development is supported by an £11.4m Heritage Lottery Fund grant
