Cynergin Consultants have been awarded a contract by the world renowned Natural History Museum, London. Under the agreement, Cynergin will review an existing procurement process and recommend a strategy for the Museum taking into account current and future energy needs and expenditure including the demands of the nearby Victoria and Albert Museum.
As part of the process, Cynergin will investigate the options open to the Museum for energy reprovision and local electricity generation including the procurement options, ranging from conventional capital purchase to a self-funded energy service contract under the Private Finance Initiative (PFI).
Cynergin’s team of technical, financial and procurement specialists have already begun work on the project and expect to complete the first stage in early 2005.
Nick Ray, Director of Cynergin Consultants, stated that “we are absolutely delighted to be awarded a contract from such a prestigious institution. The Natural History Museum, along with many other major energy users, is confronting the reality of increasing utility prices, ageing infrastructure and competing requirements for their capital.
We are confident that we can assist the Museum with its energy strategy for the next 20 years and also procure a solution which addresses their maintenance backlog, does not require asset ownership, and leverages grant funding within the context of a cash-releasing service offering.”
